Holiday Money Saving Ideas
I came across this excellent post from Darren Cronian, editor of Travel Rants, discussing 5 Holiday Money Saving Tips.
He offers great advice to those of us planning to go on holiday though i’m not very comfortable leaving my phone at home while traveling.
I have become attached to my mobile phone and cant imagine going on a tour without it but i will agree with him that if you can avoid renting a car, do so because they can turn out to be quite expensive.
About the currency issue Darren, my experience in my country is that I’d advise guys who want to convert foreign currency to the local currency to utilize the services of forex bureau available all across towns. They offer much better rates than banks.
Public transport systems in Africa are relatively cheap though in my country, accidents on the road are not that uncommon. In Africa, the idea of a holiday is going to visit your grandparents in the rural areas. If you tell folks to go and visit the national parks and game reserve they would tell you “that’s for the rich folks” and foreigners. We are so used to seeing zebras, hippos and monkeys on the highways that its not a big thing anyway
All the same, most of us have poor planning habits for our holidays and we end up spending so much forgetting that the party will end one time or another and have to face the realities of life. If possible, save some extra cash in an account and over months its gonna accumulate and you wont feel the pinch when going on holiday.
