Located some 480km by road from Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya, Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya bordering the Indian Ocean. Mombasa is a haven for those looking for quiet, relaxing Kenya luxury safaris,water sports and game fishing opportunities.

Malindi, located 150km from Mombasa, is also a fascinating town to explore as it boasts many attractions and a rich cultural history. Some of the most popular attractions here are the Malindi Marine National Park & Indian Ocean, Arabuko Sokoke Forest and Hells Kitchen, among others. Malindi Marine Park is the best place to go snorkeling and scuba diving in Kenya’s famed coral reef with dolphins and whale sharks.

Hells Kitchen, located about 36 Kilometres north West of Malindi, is a spectacular canyon that resulted from iron mining and erosion. There are also a number of interesting historical attractions in Malindi that include Vasco Da Gama’s Pillar, Portuguese Chapel, Gede Ruins and Watamu Village. Malindi can be accessed by road from Mombasa or by air via domestic flights to Malindi Airport.

Lamu is a must visit destination for everyone interested in learning about the Swahili history and culture. Located 265Km north of Mombasa, Lamu archipelago comprises six large islands and countless smaller ones. Despite its remote location Lamu has a large number of tourist attractions and activities.

Lamu attractions include beaches of Shela and Kiwayu island, Lamu Museum exhibiting the history and culture of the people of Lamu, among others. Water sports like deep sea fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, wind surfing, water skiing as well as Lamu dhow cruises are some of the popular activities for Lamu visitors.

Due to its location near the equitor, the Kenyan coast enjoys a tropical climate hence it is an ideal year-round beach destination. US passport holders need a visa to enter Kenya, but they can get it at the airport or border crossing when they arrive in Kenya. However, nationals from Commonwealth countries (including Canada and the UK) do not need a visa.
